SignalBand FAQ

Watch care and setup questions

Practical answers for taking care of SignalBand coach and player watches before, during, and after game day.

Watch Care

Are the watches waterproof or weather resistant?

No. Treat the watches as electronic devices that should be kept dry. Do not submerge them, wash them under water, use them in heavy rain, or store them wet.

What should I do if a watch gets wet?

Power it off, dry the outside with a soft cloth, and let it fully dry before charging or using it again. Do not charge a watch while it is wet.

Can I store the watches in the waterproof case?

Yes, the case is good for transport and storage as long as the watches are dry before the case is closed. A sealed case can trap moisture, so do not close wet watches inside it.

Can I charge the watches inside the closed case?

No. Charge watches on an open, hard surface. Charging creates some heat, and the watches should not be charged in a closed case, bag, direct sun, or near anything that traps heat.

Battery and Charging

Is it safe to leave the watches charging overnight?

Yes, normal overnight charging is okay when using a normal USB charger and undamaged cable. Do not charge a damaged watch, a swollen battery, a wet watch, or a watch that gets unusually hot.

Should watches be stored with a dead battery?

No. If a watch dies during use, charge it before storing it. Storing a lithium battery while fully drained can make it harder for the battery to recover later.

What should I do for long-term storage?

For several weeks or offseason storage, charge the watches first, power them off, keep them in a cool dry place, and check or recharge them every month or two.

How do I help the battery last during games?

Use the lowest brightness setting that players can comfortably see. The side button cycles brightness after the watch is powered on.

Heat and Storage

Can heat hurt the watches?

Yes. Avoid leaving watches in direct sun, hot vehicles, or closed cases sitting in heat. Heat is hard on lithium batteries and electronics.

Where should I store the case between games?

The included rugged case is durable and waterproof, so it is a good place to keep the watches protected between games. Make sure the watches are dry before closing the case, and avoid leaving the closed case in extreme heat, such as a hot vehicle, for long periods.

Power and Setup

How do I turn a watch on and off?

Click the side button to power the watch on. Hold the side button down to turn the watch off.

What is the best way to sync setup changes to player watches?

Turn on the Coach watch first, open the setup screen, make your changes, then tap Save and Restart. Once the Coach watch restarts and is back in Coach mode, turn on the player watches in Player mode. Open the app, tap Sync at the top, and the Coach watch will send the updated setup to the player watches.

Can more than one coach connect?

Yes. Multiple coaches can connect to the Coach watch. One coach can call pitches while another coach sends messages or talks specifically to infielders, outfielders, or selected positions.

Does the system need internet or cell service?

No. The Coach watch creates its own local Wi-Fi network. A coach connects a phone to that network and uses the web app hosted by the watch.
